Hospitality Decisions Deserve a Second Opinion

Bring a problem, leave with a plan.

The season’s winding down. That’s exactly when to get ahead, so we created The Sounding Board. Give me one real problem you’ve been putting off, and I’ll give you an honest hour to figure out what it would take and whether it’s worth doing at all.

Your Year Runs On the Tourist Season. So Does Your To-Do List.

Every year follows the same shape around here. Through the busy months, you’re keeping up with customers and keeping the doors open, so everything else waits. It could be the server that’s getting slow, the system nobody can quite log into anymore, or the upgrade you keep meaning to schedule; none of it can happen while your hands are full.

Then the season winds down and, for a few months, you actually have the time and bandwidth to deal with it.

And while hospitality is a sector that experiences this more than most, it also affects businesses that operate alongside the industry. One of my clients runs a gas station. He’s holding off on replacing equipment until things slow down, because he can’t afford the downtime while customers are still keeping him busy. His year runs on the same clock as the hotels down the road. So do the suppliers, the trades, anyone whose calendar rises and falls with the tourists.

This year, that calendar’s slightly harder to call. The Georgia-Florida game has always been the unofficial sign the season’s turning, and it’s moved to Atlanta this year instead of Jacksonville. So the usual end-of-October wind-down might come sooner.

Which is all the more reason not to wait on the calendar to tell you it’s time.

Projects Worth Doing Don't Fit In a Busy Week

The work that actually moves your business forward is the work that takes real time to do properly. There's never a spare afternoon for it mid-season, so it waits. Here's what "real time" actually looks like:

Guest Wi-Fi & Network Reliability

Unreliable Wi-Fi and network issues can frustrate guests and interfere with daily operations. Understanding what needs to be improved, what it might cost, and how to make those changes with minimal disruption is an important part of planning.

Aging Systems & Technology Upgrades

From reservation and payment systems to aging computers and servers, outdated technology can slow down employees and affect the guest experience. Knowing when to repair, replace, or upgrade can help you avoid unnecessary expenses and unexpected downtime.

The quiet season is your runway for getting projects off the ground.

The best time to start planning is before an issue starts affecting your guests, your employees, or your operations.

What Is The Sounding Board?

Bring one real problem you’ve been circling: the cloud migration you keep flinching at, the thing that broke twice last year, or even the “should we be doing something with AI?” question everyone keeps asking. We’ll give you an hour and a straight read on what it would take and whether it’s even worth doing.

A while back, someone came to us ready to pay for a custom AI tool. We asked what they wanted it to do, and they didn’t have an answer. They’d seen a demo, been impressed, and figured they should get one of their own. We told them to hold off for now.

Instead of starting with the tool, start with the problem you’re trying to solve and work out whether AI is even the right fix. This client wasn’t there yet, so building it would have meant taking their money for a problem they hadn’t found.

So you’re not paying for a yes. You’re paying for a straight answer from people who know what you need.
